Do you want to watch the Oscars, but really don't have the time to sit through 5 hours of "scatterories" like best editing, best sound mixing! I'm sure these nominees deserve there time in the spot light, but while they get to work at their dream job and party til the sun comes up, the rest of us have to get up, make breakfast, get the kids ready, and deal with the boss. So, for all of you, the Nominees are: (The ones we really care about)
Best Picture:
Black Swan
Inception
The Fighter
The King's Speech
Winter's Bone
Toy Story 3
127 Hours
The Social Network
True Grit
The Kid's are all right
And the Oscar Goes To....?! It's a toss-up the Oscars, in my opinion, are known for throwing a wrench just when you think you have it figured out.
My pick: Inception. Who I think will actually win: The Social Network. I have to say 99% of these pictures deserve their nomination.
Best Actor:
Javier Bardem
Jeff Bridges
Jesse Eisenberg
Colin Firth
James Franco
My Pick: Colin Firth. Who I think will actually win: Javier Bardem (already won the Spanish version of the Oscar, the Goya, for the same role)
Best Actress:
Natalie Portman
Nicole Kidman
Annette Benning
Jennifer Lawerence
Michelle Williams
And the Oscar Goes To....I have a feeling out of all the nominations this one will be hands down Natalie Portman, but she has some stiff competition with Michelle Williams. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Michelle walked away with the Oscar, remember this award show can be unperdictable.
My Pick: Natalie Portman. Who I think will actually win: Natalie Portman
Best Actor Supporting Role:
Christian Bale
John Hawkes
Jeremy Renner
Mark Ruffalo
Geoffrey Rush
And the Oscar Goes To.... This one is tricky! Most of the nominees are newcomers to the Oscar nods. Then you have Geoffrey Rush a seasoned actor with 2 previous nominations and a leading role win for Shine in 1996. Is he due for his first win in a supporting role? This one will be hard to call.
My Pick: Christian Bale. Who I think will win: I'm going to take the sucker way out and say "coin toss" between Christian Bale and Geoffrey Rush.
Best Actress Supporting Role:
Amy Adams
Helena Bonham Carter
Melissa Leo
Hailee Steinfeld
Jackie Weaver
And the Oscar Goes To....So you have veterans vs newcomers in this category. Amy Adams has been nominated twice before in a supporting role. Helena Bonham Carter and Melissa Leo have been nominated once before in the lead role category. Then there are the newcomers. If memory serves me right their have been a number of child actors nominated in a supporting role. Anna Paquin at age 11 won an Oscar in her first feature film (The Piano). So will Hailee Steinfeld be the winner this time? My guess is she has one heck of a chance.
So, there you go the low down on the Golden Boy nominations you want to know about. Remember February 27, 2011 the Oscars air from before dawn and into the next week. Just kidding, but they really do need to cut it down.
Adios
